Jim Nwodo Accuses FG of Inhumanity over Nnamdi Kanu’s Detention!
Reported by David Joshua www.selemedia.org
Nigeria – Jim Nwodo, former National Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), has publicly condemned the Federal Government’s continued detention of Nnamdi Kanu—leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB)—calling the situation “inhuman” and warning that keeping the activist “to die of illness” in custody may trigger deeper unrest across the nation.
Nwodo said that Kanu’s deteriorating health while in the custody of the Department of State Services (DSS) underscores a disregard for his rights and potentially violates both domestic and international legal protections. “The continued incarceration of Nnamdi Kanu under such medical conditions is unacceptable,” he argued, urging the Government to immediately provide full and transparent access to medical evaluation, treatment and independent oversight.
He further cautioned that the failure to act could inflame tensions in the South‑East region, and called on President Bola Tinubu’s administration to prioritise dialogue, due process and human rights ahead of political posturing. The statement arrives amid growing reports of Kanu’s health crisis, including complaints of inadequate professional care, allegations of sleep‑deprivation, fainting episodes and kidney issues.
