Popular Nigerian comedian, Osama Akpunonu, has publicly expressed his deep love and gratitude for Plateau State, calling it his home and vowing to remain a lifelong ambassador of the state. In a heartfelt video shared on social media, the Abuja-based comic recounted his humble beginnings, paid tribute to those who believed in him, and showered praises on the people of Jos for their warmth and hospitality.
Speaking with emotion and sincerity, Osama described Plateau as one of the most peaceful, accommodating, and culturally rich states in Nigeria, and credited much of his early success to the opportunities and support he received from its people.
“I will forever be a good ambassador of Plateau State,” he declared. “Jos is the best place to live in this country, and the people here are some of the most accommodating you’ll ever meet.”The comedian particularly appreciated veteran journalist, Comrade Golok Nanmwa, whom he described as a brother and one of the first to bring him into the Jos entertainment scene. According to him, Golok played a pivotal role in giving his comedy a platform and connecting him to influential figures in the region.
He also used the opportunity to commend legendary comedian Julius Agwu and other veterans in the industry who supported his growth, stating that their encouragement kept him going during the early years of struggle.
Osama’s story stands as a powerful reminder that support, community, and resilience remain essential to success in Nigeria’s creative industry. His tribute to Plateau State and its people is both inspiring and timely, especially as the state continues to nurture talents in music, comedy, and the arts.
