He logged me out from work: Yahoo boy kills colleague over N1.4m in Delta!
Reported by Marian Opeyemi Fasesan | Sele Media Africa
Delta, Nigeria — The Delta State Police Command has arrested a 28-year-old man identified as Gare for allegedly killing his colleague, Courage, in a dispute reportedly linked to internet fraud activities and a debt of N1.4 million.
According to a video shared on X by the Police Public Relations Officer of the command, Superintendent Bright Edafe, the tragic incident was described by police as “avoidable” and fuelled by anger, illicit drug use, and criminal lifestyle choices.
Police officials say the dispute began after Courage allegedly logged Gare out of a shared online work account — a conflict that escalated into violence. After the altercation, Gare is accused of stabbing Courage to death following disagreements over N1.4 million related to their fraud-linked operations.
The Commissioner of Police in Delta State has directed detectives to conduct a thorough investigation into the matter to ensure justice is served, while warning youths against the dangers of criminal lifestyles and illegal internet fraud activities.
This incident highlights a worrying trend in the Niger Delta and across Nigeria, where involvement in internet scams — often referred to locally as “Yahoo Yahoo” — increasingly leads to violent confrontations between suspects and their associates.
The suspect is currently in police custody and will be arraigned once investigations conclude.
