What Happened
- According to witnesses, the assailants shot at the tyres of Fr. Eya’s vehicle, disabling it, and then opened fire at close range, killing him instantly. [1]
- The location of the ambush was near the site of a Type C hospital project, in the Eha‑Ndiagu area of Enugu State. [1]
- Fr. Eya was traveling alone, a factor that has led many to conclude this was an assassination rather than a kidnapping attempt. No abduction was reported. [2]
Reactions & Significance

- Security authorities have not yet confirmed motive or identified perpetrators as at the time of reporting. [2]
