FIRS Seeks Media Partnership to Promote Voluntary Tax Compliance!
Reported by David Joshua | Sele Media Africa
The Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) has called for enhanced collaboration with media organizations across Nigeria as part of efforts to promote voluntary tax compliance among citizens.
In a recent statement, the agency emphasized the critical role of taxation in driving national development, stressing that effective communication and public sensitization through the media can help bridge the knowledge gap and build public trust in the tax system.
The FIRS reiterated its commitment to transparency and service delivery, urging media stakeholders to support its campaign to educate Nigerians on their civic responsibility to pay taxes and the benefits derived from doing so.
“Taxation remains a vital tool for economic sustainability and national progress. The media plays a pivotal role in shaping public perception and behavior, which is why we are seeking stronger partnerships to enhance tax awareness and compliance,” the agency stated.
This latest call aligns with ongoing government efforts to boost internally generated revenue and reduce over-reliance on oil income.
The FIRS concluded by inviting media professionals to collaborate on creating more impactful public education initiatives that foster a culture of voluntary tax compliance nationwide.
