FG to ASUU: No Justification for Ongoing Strike, All Demands Met!

FG to ASUU: No Justification for Ongoing Strike, All Demands Met!

Reported by Marian Opeyemi Fasesan | Sele Media Africa

The Federal Government on Monday insisted that the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has no valid reason to continue its strike action, claiming that all of the union’s demands have been met.

What FG Said:

  • According to the Ministry of Education, “Every single request made by ASUU has been addressed, and a formal counter-proposal submitted.”
  • The government urged ASUU to return to classrooms for the sake of students and national development.

Union’s Position:

  • ASUU is yet to formally respond to the government’s claim.
  • Union leaders had earlier cited withheld salaries and lack of implementation of past agreements as strike triggers.

Why It Matters:

  • The standoff continues to disrupt academic calendars nationwide.
  • Public pressure is mounting on both sides to resolve the crisis without further damage to Nigeria’s higher education system.
