The Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) has announced the distribution of ₦2.103 trillion among the Federal Government, 36 states, and 774 local government councils as revenue allocation for September 2025, marking one of the highest monthly disbursements in recent years.
What We Know:
- The disbursement includes ₦1.010 trillion from statutory revenue, ₦463.7 billion from Value Added Tax (VAT), ₦15.5 billion from the Electronic Money Transfer Levy (EMTL), and ₦613.8 billion from Exchange Gain and other sources.
- Federal Government received ₦726.5 billion, State Governments got ₦590.4 billion, and Local Governments received ₦430.2 billion.
- Additionally, ₦356 billion was allocated to oil-producing states under the 13% derivation principle.
- FAAC stated that the increase was driven by higher oil receipts, exchange rate gains, and improved tax collection.
Why It Matters:
- This significant disbursement provides fiscal breathing room for governments battling inflation, rising debt, and funding gaps.
- It comes as states face pressure to meet salary obligations, fund capital projects, and provide public services.
- Economic analysts warn that while the revenue spike is welcome, prudent management is key to ensuring sustainability.
