
FG Declares October 1st a Public Holiday to Mark Nigeria’s 65th Independence Anniversary!

The Federal Government has declared Wednesday, October 1, 2025, a public holiday to commemorate Nigeria’s 65th Independence Anniversary.
In an official statement issued by the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, the government extended warm congratulations to all Nigerians at home and abroad. The minister urged citizens to reflect on the sacrifices made by past heroes and to remain committed to building a united, peaceful, and prosperous nation.
Dr. Tunji-Ojo stated that the Independence Day celebration is a moment for Nigerians to appreciate how far the country has come and to reaffirm their commitment to national development and unity.

“As we celebrate our independence, let us remember that building a nation is a shared responsibility. We must all continue to uphold the values of peace, tolerance, and patriotism,” the minister said.
The government also reiterated its commitment to ensuring security, economic growth, and improved welfare for all citizens.
