Reported by Marian Opeyemi Fasesan | Sele Media Africa
The Federal Government, through the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, has approved uniform sale prices for residential units under the Renewed Hope Estate Programme across all states of the federation.
What We Know:
- The announcement was made on Thursday by the Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Arc. Ahmed Dangiwa.
- The uniform pricing applies to housing units in all 34 pilot sites currently under development across Nigeria.
- Prices range from ₦8 million for 1-bedroom units, ₦13 million for 2-bedroom units, and ₦18 million for 3-bedroom units, depending on the building type and location.
- Dangiwa emphasized that the pricing aims to ensure equity and affordability for Nigerians across income levels.
Quote:
“This decision reflects the administration’s commitment to making home ownership accessible and inclusive through transparent and uniform pricing,”
— Arc. Ahmed Dangiwa, Minister of Housing
Why It Matters:
- It ensures fairness in access and eliminates discrepancies in pricing by region or political influence.
- The Renewed Hope Programme is central to President Tinubu’s agenda to reduce Nigeria’s housing deficit.
- Standardised prices may encourage broader participation by mortgage financiers and cooperatives.
What to Watch:
- The launch of a national housing portal for applications and digital verification.
- Public-private partnerships to scale construction across the remaining 36 states and FCT.
- Monitoring of allocation fairness and the impact on low-income earners.
