The family of veteran Nollywood actress Peju Ogunmola has broken their silence to address the heartbreaking death of her only child, Sola Ayomikun Omobolanle, setting the records straight amidst swirling misinformation online.

The Nigerian entertainment industry was thrown into mourning recently when news of Ayomikun’s sudden passing surfaced on social media. Shortly after, reports began circulating that he died in the UK following a tragic bathroom accident.

However, the family, through spokesperson Yemi Amodu, has issued a clarification, stating that Ayomikun died in Ibadan, Nigeria, after a brief illness, not from any bathroom mishap.

In a heartfelt official statement, they wrote:

⁠“It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved son, Sola Ayomikun Omobolanle (son of Sunday & Peju Ogunmola Omobolanle), a jewel, a precious child, and a rising star whose light shone brightly and touched many lives.”	⁠“We wish to clearly state that Sola did not pass away as a result of any bathroom accident, contrary to false reports being circulated online. He was briefly unwell and received first-class medical care. Despite all efforts, he peacefully answered the call of his Creator at a hospital in Ibadan.”

Ayomikun has since been laid to rest at Eternal Rest Home.

The family urged the public to disregard the misleading reports, stressing that such rumors bring more pain to a grieving family and dishonor the memory of the deceased.
“We pray that no family will ever have to endure the pain of untimely loss. May the Almighty grant Sola eternal rest and grant us all the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss.” Well
