A large group of supporters loyal to Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, the former Deputy Senate President and a key figure in the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State, staged a solidarity walk in Kwale on Monday to reaffirm their backing for him and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The rally, which visibly defied the stance of the current Delta State APC leadership, was seen as a show of strength and political relevance for Omo-Agege, particularly as speculations grow over his possible 2027 governorship ambition.
This public show of support follows recent comments by Senator Peter Nwaoboshi, who advised Omo-Agege not to challenge incumbent Governor Sheriff Oborevwori in the next election. Nwaoboshi further claimed that the former governor of Delta State, Chief James Ibori, also endorsed this advice.
On Monday, August 25, supporters of Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, former APC leader in Delta State, held a solidarity walk in Kwale to back him and President Tinubu, defying state APC leadership.
The rally came after Senator Peter Nwaoboshi advised Omo-Agege not to contest the 2027 governorship election against Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, claiming even ex-Governor James Ibori supported that advice.
In response, Omo-Agege’s aide, Chuks Erhire, dismissed the claim as “fake news”, stressing that Omo-Agege will not step aside for Oborevwori and remains a strong political force in Delta.
