Drone Activity Confirmed at Multiple Airports in Denmark
Denmark is on high alert after several airports across the country detected unauthorized drone activity, prompting suspensions of flight operations and raising concerns about national airspace security. [1]
Authorities confirmed that drones were seen near Aalborg Airport, which was closed for over three hours, as well as over Esbjerg, Sønderborg, and Skrydstrup airports, the latter a military airbase. [1] While the smaller airports were not shut down, all reports are being taken seriously. [2]
This comes days after Copenhagen Airport was forced to suspend air traffic for nearly four hours due to drone sightings. The Prime Minister characterized that event as a “serious attack on critical infrastructure.” [3]
Police say they could not neutralize the drones, and investigations are ongoing. Officials have emphasized that, for now, there is no confirmed threat to the public. [4]
Danish security forces, intelligence services, and the military are collaborating to determine the origin, purpose, and operators of the drones.
