Celebrities Unite for Lagos Food Bank Walkathon to Combat Childhood Hunger

Lagos, Nigeria – In a vibrant display of solidarity and philanthropy, a host of Nigerian celebrities and influencers gathered for the Lagos Food Bank Initiative’s annual “Feed the Future” Walkathon. The event aimed to raise awareness and funds for the organization’s school feeding program, EDUFOOD, which provides nutritious meals to children in low-income communities.

A Star-Studded Affair

The 14-kilometer walk commenced at the Tafawa Balewa Square Cricket Field, weaving through Lagos Island to the Ikoyi Link Bridge and back. Notable personalities such as Shaffy Bello, Kaffy, J’odie, Kemen, Saskay, Saga, Pharmsavi, and Asiri lent their voices and presence to the cause. Their participation not only drew significant media attention but also inspired many volunteers to join the movement against child hunger. [1][2]

Participants engaged in aerobics sessions led by fitness enthusiasts, enjoyed face painting, and had the opportunity to interact with their favorite celebrities. The atmosphere was electric, filled with music, dance, and a shared sense of purpose. [3]

Voices of Support

Dr. Michael Sunbola, founder of the Lagos Food Bank Initiative, expressed his gratitude to all participants and emphasized the importance of collective action in addressing food insecurity. He highlighted the organization’s efforts in feeding over 3,600 students across 25 schools, providing meals three times a week. [4]
