South African singer Tyla has won the Best African Music Performance award at the 68th Annual Grammy Awards, held on February 1, 2026, in Los Angeles, California. She secured the win with her hit song “Push 2 Start,” becoming a two-time Grammy Award winner in the same category.

In a fiercely competitive category featuring some of Africa’s biggest music stars, Tyla triumphed over Nigerian superstars Davido (with “With You” featuring Omah Lay), Burna Boy (“Love”), Ayra Starr featuring Wizkid (“Gimme Dat”), as well as Uganda’s Eddy Kenzo & Mehran Matin (“Hope & Love”).

This victory marks Tyla’s second win in the Best African Music Performance category. She previously claimed the award in 2024 for her global breakout hit “Water,” making her the first artist to win the category twice since its introduction by the Recording Academy.

“Push 2 Start,” featured on the deluxe edition of her debut album Tyla+, blends amapiano, pop, and R&B influences. The song enjoyed strong global streaming success and critical acclaim in the lead-up to the 2026 Grammy Awards.

Tyla’s historic win further underscores the growing international influence of African music and highlights her rising stature on the global music stage.
