BREAKING: DSS Issues One-Week Ultimatum to Sowore Over Post on President Bola Tinubu
Sele Media Africa | Reported by Suzan Daniel
The Department of State Services (DSS) has issued a one-week ultimatum to activist and publisher Omoyele Sowore, demanding that he retracts a recent post concerning President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
In an official communication, the DSS warned that failure to comply with its directive would leave the agency with no option but to “explore all lawful means” to safeguard national security and public order.
While the specific content of Sowore’s post was not disclosed, sources within the intelligence community say it was deemed “incendiary” and capable of inciting public unrest or threatening state stability.
The DSS emphasized the importance of responsible use of digital platforms, especially by public figures, noting that freedom of expression must be balanced with national interest and legal boundaries.
Sowore, a former presidential candidate and outspoken critic of the Nigerian government, is yet to issue a public response to the warning.
This development has sparked fresh debate over freedom of speech, press freedom, and the limits of dissent in Nigeria’s democracy.
