BREAKING: ₦4 Billion for Plateau Youths: Empowerment or Political Gimmick? – Choji Asks
Reported by Suzan Sele Daniel | Sele Media Africa
A Facebook post by Engr. Dalyop Stephen Choji, a self-described “Concerned & Conscious Citizen” of Plateau State, has stirred public debate following Governor Caleb Mutfwang’s recent announcement of a ₦4 billion Youth Empowerment Fund.
In his widely shared post, Choji raised critical questions about the fund’s transparency and inclusivity. While acknowledging the ambitious goals of the initiative — including loans, vocational training, and starter packs in ICT, fashion design, and leather works — he cautioned Plateau youths to remain alert and demand accountability.
“₦4 BILLION has been announced for Plateau youths by Governor Caleb Mutfwang. But will it really reach YOU?” he asked.
Choji expressed concerns that such funds are often used to reward political loyalists, warning that without clear and inclusive criteria, the initiative could become yet another politicized scheme.
“We need evidence that not just ruling party members are benefitting. Plateau youths must demand clear, transparent processes. Plateau State is not a political party,” he stated.
His post ends with a call to action for the youth to ask bold questions:
• Who qualifies to benefit?
• How can one access the ₦4bn?
• Will beneficiaries be selected fairly, regardless of political or religious affiliation?
The post has ignited conversations online under hashtags like #PlateauYouth #WeThePeople #AccountabilityNow as citizens begin to push for clarity and fairness in the program’s implementation.
