BOEING 737 Incident: ‘Air Peace Crew Tests Positive for Alcohol, Cannabis’ – NSIB
The Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) has revealed that crew members aboard an Air Peace Boeing 737 involved in a recent incident tested positive for alcohol and cannabis, raising serious safety concerns.
The incident, which occurred earlier this month, involved the aircraft experiencing an emergency that led to an unscheduled landing. Following investigations, the NSIB’s toxicology report indicated that some of the flight crew were under the influence of substances prohibited in aviation operations.
In a statement, the NSIB emphasized the critical importance of strict adherence to safety protocols and zero tolerance for substance use among airline personnel. The bureau has called on Air Peace and other carriers to reinforce rigorous pre-flight checks and staff monitoring to ensure passenger safety.
Air Peace has yet to issue a full public response, but insiders suggest the airline is cooperating with regulatory authorities as the probe continues.
This revelation adds to ongoing debates on aviation safety standards in Nigeria, pushing for stronger regulatory oversight and accountability.
