
Army Names Golf Range in Honour of Late COAS Ibrahim Attahiru

The Nigerian Army has immortalised the late Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Ibrahim Attahiru, by naming a golf range after him at the TYB Golf Course in Abuja.The golf range, now officially titled “Lt. Gen. Ibrahim Attahiru Golf Driving Range,” was inaugurated during a commemorative event attended by top military officials, dignitaries, and members of the late General’s family.Attahiru, who tragically died in a military plane crash in May 2021 while on official duty, was remembered as a courageous leader committed to reforming the Nigerian Army and enhancing national security. The Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja, said the gesture was to celebrate Attahiru’s “exceptional leadership, vision, and sacrifice to the nation.”“This facility will serve as a symbol of the resilience, strength, and determination that General Attahiru embodied,” Lagbaja stated during the ceremony. The Army added that the initiative is part of broader efforts to honour past heroes and inspire younger officers through enduring legacies.
