APC Dismisses ADC Claims of Persecution, Urges Focus on Governance!

Reported by David Joshua | Sele Media Africa

The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has publicly rejected allegations from the opposition African Democratic Congress (ADC) that it is engaged in systematic persecution of rival political groups ahead of the 2027 elections. [1]

In a statement issued by its national publicity secretary, Felix Morka, the APC described the ADC’s claims of intimidation and suppression as mere “phantom lies” and a “plot to whip up sentiments” among Nigerians. The ruling party challenged the opposition to present concrete evidence of alleged coercion, asserting that no such secret meetings or intimidation campaigns have been substantiated. [2]

The ADC, for its part, accused the APC of using state institutions to harass opposition figures and disrupt peaceful political gatherings, citing incidents of physical attacks on ADC members and venues in Lagos and other states. The party called on law enforcement to resist becoming an armed wing of the ruling party. [3]
The political tension underscores a growing rift ahead of the 2027 general elections, with opposition groups warning of authoritarian tactics while the ruling party insists it remains focused on governance and national development.
