‘Anti‑ICE’ Message Found on Ammunition in Dallas Shooting That Killed ICE Detainee
In a chilling act of violence at an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) facility in Dallas, a gunman opened fire from a rooftop, killing one detainee and critically injuring two others before taking his own life. Investigators later found ammunition at the scene with the words “ANTI‑ICE” inscribed, indicating a possible ideological motive behind the attack. [1]
The suspect, identified as Joshua Jahn, 29, targeted a van in the sally port area of the facility, where the injured detainees were located. No law enforcement officers were harmed in the attack. [2]
FBI Director Kash Patel shared a photograph on social media of one of the unused bullets, showing “ANTI‑ICE” scrawled on the casing. In his statement, he characterized the finding as early evidence of ideological motive. [2]
Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem also commented that early indications suggest the shooter was targeting ICE specifically. [2] The Dallas special agent in charge, R. Joseph Rothrock, confirmed that multiple shell casings with anti‑ICE messaging were found near the suspect’s location. He affirmed that the investigation is being treated as an act of targeted violence. [3]
Meanwhile, Mexico’s government indicated that one of the wounded detainees is a Mexican national, and have requested access to their citizen. [3]
As the investigation continues, questions loom around the shooter’s motivations, ideological influences, and whether this represents a broader escalation of anti‑immigration enforcement violence in the United States.
