Anambra Poll: Police Restrict Vehicular Movement Saturday!
Reported by Marian Opeyemi Fasesan | Sele Media Africa
Ahead of Saturday’s governorship election in Anambra State, the state Police Command has announced a total restriction of vehicular movement into and within the state.
Commissioner of Police Aderemi Adeoye said the restriction will take effect from midnight to 6 p.m. on Saturday, November 9, 2025, to ensure public safety and smooth conduct of the election.
“Only essential workers, INEC staff, and accredited observers will be allowed to move,” he stated.
Key Measures:
- Movement of vehicles banned across the state’s 21 LGAs for the duration of the poll.
- Security agencies will man entry and exit points to enforce the directive.
- Voters are advised to go to polling units on foot and carry valid identification.
Why It Matters:
- The restriction is a standard security measure during Nigerian elections to prevent vote-buying logistics, intimidation, and violence.
- Authorities say it is part of broader inter-agency efforts to guarantee free, fair, and peaceful elections.
