An Indiana-based bankruptcy attorney named Mark S. Zuckerberg has filed a lawsuit against Meta Platforms Inc., alleging that the company repeatedly suspended his Facebook accounts under the false assumption that he was impersonating Meta’s CEO, who shares the same name. [1]
According to court documents filed in Marion Superior Court, Indianapolis, Zuckerberg’s personal and business Facebook accounts were disabled multiple times between 2022 and 2025. He asserts that these suspensions have harmed his legal practice by limiting client acquisition and causing significant inconveniences. [2]
Zuckerberg claims that despite providing various forms of identification to verify his identity, including his birth certificate and driver’s license, Meta continued to suspend his accounts. He likened the situation to “buying a billboard on the side of the highway, paying the people for the billboard, and then they come and put a giant blanket over it.” [3]
In response, a Meta spokesperson stated that Zuckerberg’s account had been “disabled in error” and has since been reinstated. The company also mentioned that steps are being taken to prevent similar incidents in the future.Zuckerberg has launched a website, iammarkzuckerberg.com, to document his experiences and raise awareness about the challenges of using Meta’s platforms under such circumstances. The lawsuit underscores ongoing issues with platform moderation and identity verification, highlighting the potential for automated systems to misidentify users and the challenges individuals may face in resolving such errors.
