Again, Troops Repel Boko Haram/ISWAP Attacks in Borno and Yobe!
Reported by David Joshua | Sele Media Africa
Troops of the Joint Task Force in the North East under Operation HADIN KAI once again foiled coordinated attacks by Boko Haram and ISWAP fighters across multiple locations in Borno and Yobe states. [1]
According to military sources, late‑night assaults targeted troops’ positions in Dikwa, Mafa and Gajibo in Borno, as well as Katarko in Yobe. Between midnight and 4 a.m., insurgents launched simultaneous attacks but were repelled by ground troops supported by air strikes and intelligence‑surveillance assets. [2]
The military confirmed that over 50 terrorists were neutralised, and a large cache of weapons recovered including 38 AK‑47 rifles, 7 PKT machine guns, 5 RPG launchers, and 2 GPMGs. [1]
Some troops were wounded in the engagements, and follow‑up operations are ongoing to pursue the fleeing insurgents. The Defence‑High Command commended the gallantry of the soldiers and reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to defeating the insurgency. [1]
The renewed attacks underscore the persistent threat posed by the insurgent groups despite recent successes by the military, and reinforce calls for sustained vigilance and operational support in the North‑East theatre.
