Nigeria’s senior women’s national team, the Super Falcons, have already begun preparations for their crucial 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) final qualifying fixture against the Benin Women’s National Football Team, with eight players arriving early at the camp in Lomé, Togo. [1]

Leading the early arrivals is captain and six‑time African Women’s Footballer of the Year Asisat Oshoala, joined by Turkey‑based defender Oluwatosin Demehin, China‑based forward Folashade Ijamilusi, new call‑up Joy Omewa, and the home‑based players: goalkeeper Anderline Mgbechi, defenders Blessing Ilivieda and Miracle Usani, midfielder Taiwo Afolabi and forward Kafayat Mafisere. Head Coach Justine Madugu confirmed the squad will begin training on Monday afternoon at Hotel Sarakawa in Lomé as they build up to the first leg of the tie scheduled for Friday at the Stade de Kégué. The return leg will be played in Abeokuta, Nigeria, on Tuesday, 28 October 2025. [3]The series serves as the final qualifying hurdle for the Falcons ahead of the WAFCON tournament, which doubles as Africa’s qualifying route for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil. [2]

Sele Media Africa will continue to track the camp build‑up, player arrivals, and tactical preparations as Nigeria targets a place at the continental finals and builds momentum toward global competition.
