Kano, Nigeria — Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has approved a fresh round of appointments and promotions across key government institutions in the state, aimed at strengthening governance and improving service delivery.
The development was disclosed in a statement issued by the Governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin-Tofa, who said the approvals affect strategic agencies and senior government officials.
Among the appointments, Abubakar Ibrahim Matawalle was named Acting Director-General of the Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board. Matawalle previously served as Executive Secretary of the board and later as a Permanent Secretary before retiring from the Kano State Civil Service in 2014.
In the same exercise, Yusuf Mukhtar was promoted to the rank of Permanent Secretary, while Barrister Rahama Malam Alhaji was appointed Provost of the Kano State Anti-Corruption Institute, a key institution in the state’s anti-corruption framework.
Additionally, Aina’u Ade was elevated from Special Assistant to Senior Special Assistant on Kannywood Affairs, reflecting the administration’s commitment to strengthening the creative and cultural sector in Kano State.
The governor noted that all appointments and promotions take immediate effect, stressing that they are part of ongoing efforts to reposition the public service with experienced and competent hands.
The appointments come amid recent political realignments in Kano State, following the governor’s defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC), which led to the resignation of some senior officials in the state government.
