The Rivers State Police Command has apprehended three suspects linked to the abduction and subsequent killing of a victim, despite receiving a ransom of ₦6.9 million from the victim’s family.
The Command’s spokesperson, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, confirmed the arrest, stating that the suspects were traced and captured after diligent intelligence work. She noted that the incident occurred earlier this month and investigations are ongoing to uncover the full details and identify any additional accomplices.
According to police sources, the victim was kidnapped and held while the abductors negotiated with the family. After the ransom was paid, the victim was tragically killed and dumped in a bush, a development that triggered a manhunt by operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit.
SP Iringe-Koko warned that the police would not tolerate such heinous crimes and reassured the public of the command’s commitment to dismantling all criminal networks operating within the state.
The suspects are currently in custody and will be charged to court after investigations are concluded.
