The North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) has issued a stern warning to Russia following recent violations of allied airspace, reaffirming its commitment to defend its members and deter any form of aggression.
In a statement released Tuesday, NATO said it remains vigilant in monitoring its eastern borders amid ongoing tensions related to the war in Ukraine. The alliance condemned what it described as “unacceptable airspace violations by Russian military aircraft.”
“We will not hesitate to act in defense of our territory and populations. Russia must respect international borders,” the statement read.
Member states bordering Russia, including the Baltic nations and Poland, have reported increased air activity and near incursions in recent weeks. NATO said it has scrambled jets multiple times in response.
