TikTok content creator Olaoluwa Segun has opened up about the traumatic experience he faced while in police custody, following his viral post accusing Nollywood actress Dayo Amusa of being HIV positive—a claim he later admitted was false.
Segun, in a remorseful video shared after his release, described the two-day detention as the “worst experience” of his life. He alleged that the conditions inside the police cell were degrading, citing horrible food, harsh treatment, and even being forced to pay a ₦10,000 levy for basic privileges during his detention.
“I wouldn’t wish that experience on anyone,” he said. “The food was horrible, they made us sleep on the floor, and to even use the toilet, you must pay.”
His ordeal began after Dayo Amusa formally reported the defamatory claim to the authorities, which led to his swift arrest. The actress, who has been vocal about cyberbullying and fake news, took legal steps to protect her name and health status.Though Segun has since apologized, the case has reignited conversations about responsible content creation, digital accountability, and the growing impact of false narratives spread online—especially those affecting public figures and sensitive health topics.
Authorities have yet to confirm whether further legal action will follow.
SeleMediaAfrica continues to urge social media users to verify information before sharing, especially on health-related matters that could harm reputations and public trust.
