At least six African migrants, originally deported from the United States to Ghana, have been re-expelled by Ghanaian authorities to neighboring Togo, according to statements by their legal representatives on Tuesday.

The individuals, all West Africans, were part of a group affected by a renewed immigration crackdown ordered under former U.S. President Donald Trump’s policy. Ghana reportedly denied that they were its nationals, prompting their forced relocation to Togo.

Human rights groups are raising concerns over the legality of the double deportation and the lack of due process in confirming national identity. Advocacy for their repatriation to their actual countries of origin is now underway.
